SARA WARNOCK: SEEDLING EDUCATION / SEED PLANTER

What brought you to Mo-co?

I’ve been self employed near on three years and previously used my bedroom or kitchen as an office. This was manageable until I returned to higher level study and suddenly I was spending more time cleaning my house and making cups of tea than working. I was unmotivated and bored, and my timelines were getting longer, and my cat was getting fed up with being harassed.

I knew I needed to find something but the budget wasn’t going to stretch to an office of my own. I had considered co-working before however, as an introvert with mental health challenges I have found most co-working spaces overwhelming due to the sheer number of people present.

I put a call out to friends on social media for somewhere that was affordable and as if by magic, mo-co popped up. Being Hutt based it was easy for me to pop in one day when driving past and instantly felt at home in the cosy, welcoming space.

What do you love about being at Mo-co?

It’s big enough that there are multiple places to work depending on your needs, and just the right amount of people that you can feel connected but not distracted when you need to get your head down and get things done.

The real magic are the little touches like teas and, oftentimes, home-made baking alongside the genuine care about one another amongst the other co-workers. For an anxious human like myself it’s been the perfect find, both as somewhere to work and as a place to be around wonderful people, and has benefited both my work and me as a person.

Have there been any unexpected benefits?

Without gushing, starting at mo-co has been transformative for the work that I do. The skills of others in the space has led to the most exciting opportunities and projects including, finally, the creation of an online resource for the Yoga for Schools programme. The opportunities have felt effortless which is, in my world, the mark of the best collaborations. I came looking for a quiet place to work on my thesis and pay bills on time and ended up elevating existing projects and developing future ones almost effortlessly.
